LARGE EARLY BOWIE

This beautiful bowie was manufactured by "Wilson,Hawksworth, Ellison & Co., Sheffield" about 1850. The fine 8" blade which shows no sign of sharpening is etched with the Royal Coat of Arms & some other minor decoration. The guard is german silver as is the so called "Tiffany Style" hilt, the overall being about 13 1/2". Included is the original sheath missing only the tip which is common & easily replaced if so desired. The condition of this knife is exceptional & the price reasoneable.

F.S. FIGHTING KNIFE (NAMED)

This scarce example of a second pattern Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife from World War II was a special order. It has the name "Frank DeLong" etched in the blade which was done by "Wilkinson" at the time of order. While there are known, exmples of this type, they are seldom encountered. This one is completely original with slight sharpening and some minor pitting from the scabbard. The original point is intact. The scabbard is missing the top portion and was probably carried in the boot which was common practice. Almost impossible to find identified.

I D'd FAIRBAIRN-SYKES FIGHTING KNIFE

Another personalized F.S. of the second pattern and by a maker other than Wilkinson.(There were several makers under contract)A seldom encountered type in virtually mint condition with the owner's name etched on the blued blade and also written in ink on the back of the upper body of the sheath (which has separated at the stitching and easily repaired) along with the soldier's I.D number making it possible to research the individual. A piece for the finest museum or personal collection.

MAGNIFICENT 3RD. PATTERN F.S. BY WILKINSON

In close to mint condition this example bears the etched Wilkinson Logo on one side of the bright blade and the F.S. Logo on the other. These have become hard to come by in any condition and this is excellent with it's original sheath. Most have the blued blades which came later. A rare find.

WILKINSON FAIRBAIRN-SYKES FIGHTING KNIFE

Very near mint this example of the 3rd pattern is marked with a broad arrow over the number 13 on the hilt just below the guard. It is thought this would be for the 13th Commando Unit. FINE 3rd. PATTERN F.S. FIGHTING KNIFE

Another very fine example with this one having the Broad Arrow and the letter "I" stamped on the top of the crossguard. It is thought that these were used by allied forces from India. There have been some additonal books published on these since the early days when I collected them and the collector should do his own research, however I have had these for 35+ years and will guarantee them as wartime issue.

2nd PATTERN F.S. FIGHTING KNIFE

This earlier knife (2nd. pattern with checkered hilt) is in equal or better condition than the others. It has a large "B-2" stamped on the top of the guard as well as "England" which is required by the U.K on all items manufactured for export. Impossible to improve on. We also have another with ringed hilt and a broad arrow and "21" stamped similarly on the guard in similar condition.

"MEXICAN WAR" PERIOD BOWIE IN VERY NEAR MINT CONDITION

Without a doubt the finest Bowie we have had the pleasure of owning. It is outstanding in every way. The 8 1/2 inch spearpoint blade is near mint with virtually all of it's bright polish and etching, and never been sharpened with a few very minor rub marks. The stag horn grip in like condion. The maker is J. Walters whose firm was a Cutlery manufacturer only from 1846 to 1862 in Sheffield and since these were made for the American trade could have been used during the gold rush and the "Civil War". The sheath which is complete and in similar condition to the knife, still has the remains of a suede leather harness strap attached which appears to have been used to also hold a belt. The flash caused the appearance of finish loss to the sheath which is not the case. The overall length is about 13 1/2". This is among the very best and reasoneable in price. We also have the "Bowie Knife Book" for sale elsewhere on the site.
